About Us

Our multimedia project is about Underground Art, the forms of art that operate outside of the conventional norms of art. It is art that is not found in art galleries, museums or music halls. In this project, we tend to shed some light on this kind of art, especially after its audience has grown significantly after the first SOS festival to be 25000 instead of 8000. We also tend to delve deeper into the lives of underground artists to discover the struggles/risks they face in trying to communicate their art and the messages they are trying to send. This project is made by four university students majoring in mass communications.

My name is Sarah Sabra. I'm a 20 years old IMC student in the American University in Cairo. I wish I can have my own TV show one day, to be able to interview important people in my country and discuss different issues that would actually benefit everyone. My story is about Graffiti Art. It is mainly about how artists encouter dangerous situations and risks while expressing their Art.. I believe in Street Art and its freedom.

I am Dina Hosam, a 19-year old student majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication in The American University in Cairo. I am also double minoring in Business and Digital Media. I personally admire the Arts and think that they represent beauty in our daily life. Underground however is different and make me feel more attached to the Art. Egypt encompasses great artist that yet didn't reach the limelight.

I am Hana Mandour, a 20-year old student in The American University in Cairo. I am majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications and in Business Administration. For me, underground art represents the true form of art. It is the phase where artists express themselves and their ideas without pressure forced on them by big corporations. However, it is still under represented in Egypt regardless of the many talents it harbors.

I am Sara Hussein, a 19-year old student in the American University in Cairo; I am majoring in Communication and Media Arts and minoring in Psychology. I think underground art is very important to people, because they express their feelings, ideas and opinions through it. Also I think this kind of art helps people deliver their messages easier to the community
